St. Patricks Day Wreath

Can I say that I am so proud of myself for actually having a craft done on time. I put this up on my door today...not the day before St. Pattys Day :D I know you are all as proud of me as I am. For some reason I have been into wreaths lately. I dont know why, maybe because its an easy way to start the decorating. I guess it is something that my boys can't pull down or knock over.

Anyways, last year I was at Joanns and i saw these St. Patricks day "do-dads" (dont know what you want to call them) on sale for like .25 cents each. Niiice. Didnt know what I was going to do with them at the time but I thought I could use them on something. I had Green burlap in my stash and I knew I could use it to make a wreath. I'm sure many of you have seen those felt wreaths floating around all over the internet (or homes). You know the ones I'm talking about right? They usually use white felt, cut it in a circle and then pin it into the styrofoam wreath. Ya know, those ones? I sure do because I made one last year. So I figured I would put the same technique to use.

I cut circles out of the burlap and pinned them into the styrofoam. Then I took extra little scraps of the burlap and hot glued them around the back edges just to hide the white styrofoam. I also added just some white craft foam to the back of the wreath just so little foam pieces wouldnt fall all over the place. Isnt it pretty? I think so. :)

A couple of things I would have done differently...
1} I would have put hot glue on the edge pieces when I pinned them in. The pieces that are in the middle are tucked in nice and tight, but the edge pieces were not wanting to stay in as well. So hot glue them in the first time around.
2} next I would have traced the styrofoam wreath first for the back foam piece. You see I had pinned all the burlap pieces in first. So it was more difficult to trace it.
AND I still mmight add one more thing. We shall see....
Next up,
Today the UPS man brought me a wonderful package. I happily signed for it and could not wait to open it up. I knew what was coming, i tore off the tape, popped the plastic bubble wrap for my boys (which they loved and were in awe of) and looked down to see my new beautiful Canon camera. Its the Canon 7D. I still have higher hopes but this is great for now. I was going to get the Canon 5D Mark II BUT I heard that the Mark III is coming out at the end of this year so I thought to myself, "why buy the markII only to have the markIII come out 6 months after" so I bought the 7D for now and am waiting paitenly until the end of this year/ beginning of next to purchase the Mark III. That will be an even better delivery. Until then, here is my new camera...

Beautiful isnt he....yes I said he ;)

Oh, by the way I want to see how many people I can get to follow this blog. So if you like what you see go ahead and follow me. I dare you, no I double dog dare you!!

I have that camera!!! I *L*O*V*E* it, I cannot tell you how much I love it! Now the very next thing you need for it is a shoe-mount flash. We had just the camera for about a month or two before getting the flash, and it makes a HUMONGOUS difference in our pictures. I think they are like $250-$400? Oh man I'm so excited for you!
ANd I LOVE your rosette heart, yours is even better than the 'original'!
PS-Thanks for stopping by my blog!
